Rybinsk

Рыбинск — второй по величине город в Ярославской области с населением 184.600 человек.

До революции был крупнейшим в России центром торговли зерном, перегрузочным портом Мариинской водной системы, город был прозван «столицей бурлаков».
В советское время основой экономики города становится моторостроительный завод Сатурн. После строительства в 1930-х годах Рыбинской ГЭС, к северо-западу от города было создано Рыбинское водохранилище — крупнейший для своего времени искусственный водоём мира.

Rybinsk is the second largest city in the Yaroslavl region with a population of 184.600 people.

Before the revolution, it was the largest grain trading center in Russia, a transshipment port of the Mariinsky water system, the city was nicknamed “the capital of barge haulers”.
In Soviet times, the engine-building plant Saturn became the basis of the city’s economy. After the construction of the Rybinsk hydroelectric power station in the 1930s, the Rybinsk reservoir was created to the north-west of the city — the largest artificial reservoir in the world for its time.
