Several cars immediately went under the ice while crossing the Lena River in Yakutsk. The drivers and passengers were pulled out a few seconds before the cars plunged into the water.

On November 20, at about 18:00, a Toyota Ipsum followed by a Mazda Bongo cargo truck was crossing a frozen river. At some point, the ice could not support the weight of the car, and it began to sink. The minibus following her suffered the same fate, but this was not captured on camera. A hovercraft was moving in parallel with them. The people in it noticed the tragic situation and rushed to help the drowning people. There were four people in both cars; fortunately, all passengers were saved.
