The father of a murdered Ukrainian girl forbade her to be buried in Germany

In 2022, young Valeria fled from Ukraine to Germany with her mother, grandmother and sister. They settled in the city of Döbeln in Saxony. The girl’s 32-year-old father, Roman, remained in Ukraine and is fighting in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Due to separation, the parents divorced. Nine-year-old Valeria disappeared on June 3 on her way to school. A week later, her body was found in the forest in the south of the city. On Friday, a 36-year-old Moldovan citizen, the main suspect in the murder, was detained in Prague. Previously, he was in a relationship with Valeria's mother. Roman told BILD that he intends to come for the body and bury his daughter at home: “I want to take my daughter home and bury her here in Ukraine. I won't leave her there." He should arrive in Germany soon. On Friday evening, almost 2,000 residents of Döbeln gathered in the central square Obermarkt, where they paid tribute to Valeria. In total, about 23,000 people live in the city, that is, every tenth person came to the rally. Mayor Sven Liebhauser spoke from the stage. People brought flowers, candles and stuffed animals, and then released balloons into the sky.
