The U.S. Supreme Court has recognized partial immunity for presidents from criminal prosecution. This may help Trump to avoid punishment in the power grab case

As the court ruled, the president has absolute immunity for the fulfillment of constitutional powers, but there is no immunity for acts he does not perform as an official. At the same time, as the court ruled, the Head of State has presumptive immunity for "other acts" that the President performs in his official capacity but which are not directly related to the implementation of constitutional powers. In this regard, the Supreme Court returned to the first instance of the case against Donald Trump about the attempted seizure of power - Judge Tanya Chatkan will have to determine to which of the categories belong to his actions described in different parts of the prosecution. The ruling was made in the case of Trump's involvement in the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The politician was accused of wanting to nullify the results of an election he lost.
