Bosnia and Herzegovina is a small country that has almost never had two things: independence and peace.

At various times, Bosnia was under the rule of Byzantium, Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary, Yugoslavia... Numerous wars involving the Turks swept across Bosnia. The Bosnian capital Sarajevo is where the First World War began. And on some streets of Bosnian cities there are still traces of the war.
